Abstract:Let M be an n dimensional compact minimal submanifold in the unit sphere S n+p . An integral formula concerning the square of the length of the second fundamental form of M and the infimum of the Ricci curvature is obtained by employing the Gauss map of M. The formula shows that M is a totally geodesic submanifold under some further condition.
