Abstract: | In the glass–rubber transition region of viscoelastic behavior of amorphous polymers, it is found that is a good first approximation. Here J(t) is the value of the shear creep compliance at time t and J″(1/t) is the value of the shear loss compliance at an angular frequency of 1/t. Previous approximations related the creep compliance to the storage compliance. When J(t) is proportional to tm, where m is a positive constant, J″(1/t) is within 30% of J(t) for m > 0.6. Over the entire range, is a better approximation than either of the other two. The relaxation modulus G(t) is hardly ever a good approximation for the loss modulus G″(1/t). |
