A Cryptographic Scheme Based on Spatiotemporal Chaos of Coupled Map Lattices

Abstract:We propose a cryptographic scheme basedon spatiotemporal chaos ofcoupled map lattices (CML) ,which is based on one-time pad. Thestructure of the cryptosystem determines that the progress indecryption implies the progress in exploring the dynamical behaviorof spatiotemporal chaos in CML. A part of the initial condition ofCML is used as a secret key, and the recovery of the secret key byexhaustive search is impossible due to the sensitivity to theinitial condition in spatiotemporal chaos system. Specially thesoftware implementation of the scheme is easy.
