Abstract: | The reversible redox switching of Tb(III) centered luminescence resulting from the protonation/deprotonation of the ligand has been realized. The redox couple quinone/hydroquinone serves as a proton pump, leading to the reversible protonation/deprotonation of the phenolate groups of p-sulfonatothiacalix[4]arene and following decomplexation/complexation with Tb(III) ion in aqueous solution. |
