Abstract: | After the industrial use in a combined reactor the surface area of catalysts continuously decreases along the tube. Activity and selectivity of the samples show an extremum as a function of the height (minimum activity corresponds to maximum temperature in the layer). Above and below the hot point, the activities are almost the same but are lower than the initial value. Selectivity is a maximum for samples taken below the hot point. Upwards and downwards from this point the selectivity slightly decreases but remains significantly higher than for the initial catalyst.
