Abstract: | The pretransitional back‐scattering of circularly polarized light in CE6/CE6R blends was studied and the amplitude of the fluctuations in two of the five structural modes present in the isotropic phase of chiral nematic liquid crystals measured. From these measurements, the second order transition temperatures for these two modes were calculated. We found that both the chirality and the applied fields affect the fluctuations but the chiral effects seem to dominate over the field effects. |
