Zur Kenntnis der Perjodsäuren HJO4 und H7J3O14: Neue Darstellung,Ramanspektren und Struktur

On the Periodic Acids HIO₄ and H₇I₃O₁₄: Novel Preparation, Raman Spectra, and Structure HIO₄ and H₇I₃O₁₄ have been prepared from H₅IO₆ by dehydration with 100 and 97 p.c. H₂SO₄, respectively. These substances are identical with those obtained from H₅IO₆ by thermal dehydration. From their Raman spectra it is concluded that the iodine atoms in the compounds are octahedrally coordinated with oxygen atoms. According to this coordination, HIO₄ is polymeric. For both compounds structural formulae are suggested.
