X-ray scattering in the presence of a strong laser field

Remarkable modifications of electron scattering in the presence of a strong, low frequency radiation field have been found by Kroll and Watson several years ago. It is shown that these modifications have their exact counterparts in the corresponding X-ray scattering by free and bound electrons. In view of the rapid development towards coherent X-ray sources, such induced radiation processes may become accessible to experimental verification in the near future.
