Facile one‐pot synthesis of α‐amino phosphonates using lanthanide chloride as catalyst

An efficient preparation of α‐amino phosphonates by the one‐pot condensation of aldehydes, amines, and dialkyl phosphites using catalytic amounts of lanthanide chloride under mild conditions is successfully developed. Moreover, the catalyst is water‐tolerant and could be recovered and reused. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
