Effect of intensity-correlated error due to quantization and noise on phase-shifting method

Abstract:A method to investigate the effect of the interaction of the noise and the quantization on the computed phase in phase-shifting measurement (PSM) is proposed. The statistical relationship between the measured phase and the fringe intensity-correlated error is formulated for the standard N-sample algorithm. The phase error variance is evaluated following a nonlinear stochastic analysis.
