Abstract: | Neutron-diffraction results are presented for Li0.5Fe2.5-xA1xO4 for x from 0.2 to 1.0. Continuous solid solutions are formed, and the lattice constant varies from 8.33 to 8.17 Å. Ordering of type 13 occurs for the Li+ and Fe3+ ions in the octahedral sublattice. The Al content influences the oxygen parameter U and the distribution of the cations between the sublattices. The results are compared with those from magnetic measurements.Translated from Izvestiya VUZ. Fizika, Vol. 11, No. 11, pp. 88–92, November, 1968.I am indebted S. M. Zhilyakov for providing the specimens, to V. A. Somenkov and S. Sh. Shil'shtein for valuable discussions, and to V. M. Kuchin for assistance in the experiments. |
