| Abstract: | Cyanation of o-dichloroarenes with potassium hexacyanoferrate(ii) catalyzed by Pd(OAc)2/PPh3 system gave the corresponding phthalodinitriles in moderate yields. The method of competitive reactions revealed that activation rate of chloroarenes by Pd-catalyst increased in the presence of the electron-withdrawing groups in the arene core. |
