Volumetric Estimation of Hydroquinone A Ferric Alum-Dichromate Method

Zusammenfassung Es wird ein neues Verfahren zur volumetrischen Bestimmung von Hydrochinon beschrieben: Man versetzt ein bekanntes Volumen Hydrochinonlösung mit überschüssiger, schwach saurer Eisen(III)-ammoniumsulfatlösung, läßt 5 min reagieren und titriert die entstandenen Eisen II)-ionen in etwa 1 n schwefelsaurer Lösung bei Zimmertemperatur mit 0,1 n oder 0,01 n Dichromatlösung gegen Bariumdiphenylaminsulfonat als Indicator.

Summary A new procedure has been reported for the volumetric estimation of hydroquinone. A known volume of hydroquinone is allowed to react for about 5 min with an excess of ferric alum in slightly acidic medium and the resultant ferrous iron is titrated in about 1 N H₂SO₄ at room temperature with 0.1 N or 0.01 N diehromate solution using barium diphenylamine sulphonate as indicator.
