Abstract: | The sensing of ions in various media is a continuing problem that often requires new techniques as existing sensors may be inadequate for a particular example. Chemical sensors based on fibre optics have recently been the subject of considerable interest, as they have a number of advantages over conventional systems. This paper reviews those optical fibre chemical sensors that have been developed for the sensing of ionic chemical species in solution. |
