| Abstract: | A model for the selective adsorption phenomenon in an isotropic liquid accounting for a van der Waals interaction between the ions and the surface is presented, in the framework of the Poisson-Boltzmann theory. The fundamental equations governing the electric field distribution are exactly solved for low and high potential regimes. |
