| Abstract: | Syntheses and spectroscopic properties of alkoxy-substituted para-acenequinones are reported. These compounds showed excellent alignment in nematic liquid crystals as evidenced by polarized UV-vis absorption and fluorescence measurements. [structure: see text] |
