Abstract: | A dynamic headspace stripping technique for the extraction of volatile organic compounds has been applied to a variety of solid and semisolid waste materials. A simple glass apparatus accommodates a wide range of sample sizes and allows for the volatiles to be stripped at elevated temperatures. Concentration on Tenax, followed by thermal desorption and analysis by fused silica capillary gas chromatography provides detailed information on the volatile content of waste samples of widely differing matrix composition. |
