Abstract: | Based on the mechanism of oxidative dimerization of hydrocarbons the rules for the selection of catalysts for this kind of reactions has been discussed. It has been shown that an efficient dehydrodimerization catalyst must contain on its surface electron acceptor centers (metal cations) of moderate strength, strongly bound nucleophilic oxygen, and possess the corresponding collective properties.
