Abstract:The activity of internal waves in shallow water is an important reason for the decrease of temporal correlation length. Using the data of experiment conducted in 2015 in the northern of South Chinese Sea experiment, the statistical characteristics of the temporal correlation of the acoustic field under the conditions of linear internal waves and soliton internal waves are compared and analyzed. Experimental data shows that nonlinear internal waves greatly reduce the temporal correlation of the acoustic field. The temporal correlation length can decrease from 1-3 hours in the linear internal wave environment to less than 20 minutes in the internal soliton wave environment. In this paper, simulations based on RAM, a popular PE program, is used to interpret the above phenomenon well.
