Abstract: | Comprehensive numerical and experimental analyses of the effect ofviscosity on cavitation oscillations are performed. This numericalapproach is based on the Rayleigh--Plesset equation. The modelpredictions are compared with experimental results obtained by usinga fibre-optic diagnostic technique based on optical beam deflection(OBD). The maximum and minimum bubble radii as well as theoscillation times for each oscillation cycle are determined accordingto the characteristic signals. It is observed that the increasing ofviscosity decreases the maximum bubble radii but increases theminimum bubble radii and the oscillation time. These experimentalresults are consistent with numerical results. |
