Abstract: | In this paper, we consider a thin elastic layer between a rigid body and an elastic one. A Tresca law is assumed between the two elastic bodies. The Lamé coefficients of the thin layer are assumed to vary with respect to its height ϵ. This dependence is shown to be of primary importance in the asymptotic behaviour of the device, a critical case leading to a non‐classical contact law when deleting the bond.
