| Abstract: | The stability of a general toroidal magnetohydrostatic equilibrium configuration surrounded by a vacuccum is re-investigated. The “peeling” criterion given perviously has been improved. In the case of axisymmetry with vanishing poloidal current the new form of the criterion requires vanishing of the toroidal current at the edge of the plasma. |
