Origin of magnetostriction in TbAl2 and TbCo2 compounds |

| Abstract: | Magnetostriction measurements are reported for TbAl2 below the ordering temperature. Single crystal magnetostriction coefficients are estimated for TbAl2. From the measured data together with the results obtained earlier for TbCo2, it is found that the source of the magnetostriction is the strain-dependent anisotropy of the Tb sublattice. |
