Abstract: | An assumed stress distribution is used to derive the stiffness matrix for a rectangular cylindrical shell element. A numerical method is given for selecting the required number of terms in the stress assumption. A selection of various static and dynamic results are presented and compared with results obtained by exact theory and other finite elements. |
