| Abstract: | It is shown that the field distribution due to a point source of sound within an absorbent-lined enclosure can be simply calculated using a geometrical ray treatment and the appropriate plane-wave pressure-reflection coefficient. A practical application of this result is in predicting the performance of free-field test chambers of the type commonly used for industrial measurement of the sound power of noise sources. |
