Abstract: | It is shown that diffraction from a purely repulsive potential can be described by a simple extension of the Ford and Wheeler semiclassical analysis. The diffraction arises from interference between a ‘classically allowed’ and a ‘classically forbidden’ contribution to the scattering amplitude. A numerical example is presented to show that the semiclassical description is quite quantitative. |
