| Abstract: | We give a distance formula from an arbitrary operator T in a Von Neumann algebra U to an upper triangular operator space of U. Using this distance fomula, we deduce a distance formula of Jacobson radical of a nest subalgebra of a factor Von Neumann algebra. The two distance formulas generalize a series of existing corresponding results. |
