Diprotonation of nitroarenes |

| Abstract: | Cryoscopic measurement shows that 1-nitronaphthalene is diprotonated in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TFSA). The diprotonated nitronaphthalenes are N,N-dihydroxyiminium-naphthalenium dications, which is fully characterized by UV, 1H-, 13C and 15N-NMR spectra. |
