A Model of Hydrogen-Bonded Liquids

The orientation defect model can be used for quantitative estimates and for understanding the properties of H-bonded liquids, such as water and alcohol. The defect concentrations can be determined by vibrational spectroscopy, and the applicability of the approximation procedure derives from considering H-bonds as chemical equilibria. Possible extensions of the simple model are critically discussed.
