Flavolignans of Silybum marianum Fruit

Abstract:The chemical composition of fruit from spotted milkweed [Silybum marianum(L.) Gaertn.] cultivated in Samara district was investigated using UV and1H-NMR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry. Chemical transformations identify the flavolignans silybin, silydianin, silychristin, and 2,3-dehydrosilybin. The last was first described for spotted milkweed cultivated in Russia and CIS countries.
