Abstract: | Poly(ether imide)s containing the 1,2-diphenylcyclopropane or diphenylacetylene moiety have been synthesized from two new dianhydrides by solution condensation. Characterization of and crosslinking studies on these polymers were carried out utilizing DSC, TGA, and NMR. The polymers can be thermally crosslinked when heated above 350°C and the glass transition temperatures (Tg) of the polymers increase after crosslinking. The resulting crosslinked networks are insoluble in all solvents tried. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that no significant weight loss accompanies the cross-linking reaction. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. |
