Abstract: | Charts for acoustic design of a room in front of intrusive noise sources are the subject of this paper. The charts are based on modified room acoustics formulae, which yield consistent solutions, not to be obtained by the usual standards. The charts enable easy and quick determination of the necessary acoustic means for reduction of the level of the noise emanating into the room. Such a reduction may be well above 10 dB, even for periods of the day when windows are left open. The charts are useful for determining the size of windows and doors and the absorption area in the receiving room. They are useful also in the design of sound locks and sound transmission through various routes. |
