Abstract: | Summary Large-amplitude global free vibration of a long cylindrical shell resting on an elastic foundations is considered. The shell is initially loaded by uniform static transverse forces. Both the static deflections of the shell and the nonlinear vibrations superimposed on static equilibrium are considered using nonlinear theory. Numerical analysis elucidates the effect of different parameters on vibrations. The version of this paper was presented at the Twentieth Midwestern Mechanics Conference, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, August 31–Sept. 2, 1987. |
