Abstract: | Fiber optic sensors continue to attract considerable attention and have been widely applied to diverse analytes. The current state of the art will be reviewed with the major focus on extrinsic fiber optic chemical sensors. Fiber optic characteristics, instrumentation and configurations will be described. Representative applications will be discussed from the clinical, industrial, and environmental areas. Advantages, limitations, and future directions will be discussed. |
