Abstract:Considered in this work is the analytical modeling of plastic zones developed around planar flaws in pressure vessels. Acoustic emissions are assumed to originate from the boundary of the plastic zone. This information is used in a calculation for interpreting the data. The method of solution is illustrated via an example.
