Abstract:Thermal-lens spectrometry was applied to a study of the properties of a nickel(II) complex with dimethylglyoxime at a concentration level of n × 10–8n × 10–6 mol/L. The possibility of determining the solubility of the complex and the characteristics of its adsorption on the glass surface of laboratory ware was demonstrated. The stability constants of the complex in water–ethanol mixtures (9 : 1) were determined. The found data made it possible to optimize the conditions for the photometric determination of nanomolar concentrations of nickel. The optimized procedure was used for a thermal-lens determination of nickel(II) traces in heteropoly compounds and high-purity water.
