Quinindines

The Mannich reaction and hydroxymethylation of -quinindane at the 3 position were studied. The dialkylaminomethyl derivatives readily split out dialkylamine to form 3-methylene--quinindane, the structure of which was proved by the IR, UV, and PMR spectra. The dipole moments and pK values of the compounds were measured. No tetracyclic compounds are formed; the reaction ceases at the step involving formation of N-phenacylido--quinindane.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 11, pp. 1530–1534, November, 1970.
