Block copolymers of copolyamides with polyoxirane

1,n-Diaminopolyamides, based on lactams (P₁), gave by reaction with isocyanate-group-terminated polyoxirane macromers (P₂) in solution at ambient temperature, the copolymers of (P₁ – P₂)_y type with y = 5–10 and solution viscosity η_red = 1–11 dl/g in high yields. The composition of copolymers (40–80% of P₁) was found by elemental analysis and confirmed by the ¹H-NMR method. A substantial chain extension was observed in the reaction of macromers with low-molecular-weight “couplings.”
