| Abstract: | A mechanism for the flash ignition of a carbon nanotube (CNT) is proposed. At the first stage (during flash ignition) oxidation of an ultradispersed impurity of metals in the CNT occurs. At the second stage, heating by chemical reactions occurs. The final stage is the initiation of the combustion wave. Qualitative descriptions of processes at each stage are given. |
