Abstract:A kind of crosslinked chitosan insoluble in aqueous solution, acid and alkali has been applied to the speciation of mercury in this paper. The crosslinked chitosan could selectively preconcentrate inorganic mercury in the presence of KI. Phenylmercury was selectively eluted off after adsorption from the crosslinked chitosan with 0. 4 mol/L NaOH. The eluted organic mercury was determinaed by cold-vapour atomic absorption spectrophotometry after oxidation with K2Cr2O7/CdCl2 and reduction with KBH4. The preconcentration factor of the method reached 100, the detection limits of inorganic mercury, ph-Hg, alkyl-Hg were 7. 8 ng/L, 9. 8ng/L, 12ng/L respectively, the recoveries were 94%-98% and the RSD was smaller than 8. 0% for the speciation determination of 50ng/L of mercury in water(n= 11).
