Abstract: | Mössbauer spectroscopy has been used to study the kinetics of surface crystallization in amorphous Fe40Ni40B20. The activation energy for the surface crystallization is found to be about 230 kJ/mol, which is much lower than that for the bulk crystallization. Change in the surface composition due to aging can be a possible cause of this reduced surface stability. |
