Abstract: | In this paper, we find a new asymptotic expansion valid in enzymatic reactions, where the total amount of enzyme exceeds greatly the total amount of substrate. In such a case, it is well known that the Michaelis–Menten approximation is no longer valid; therefore our asymptotic expansion, which improves known results, is a new tool to approximate in a closed form the concentrations of the reactants in the presence of an enzyme excess.
