| Abstract: | A numerical investigation of the dynamics of ions forming small clouds confined in a Paul trap has been performed by means of a Monte-Carlo simulation. Inclusion of laser cooling results in  crystallization of the trapped ions. The shape of ordered structures is predicted. |
