Abstract:This paper describes an approach for water resources planning taking into account both quantity and quality aspects. A decisional procedure is proposed which consists of two phases. In the first phase, the water resources sharing problem is dealt with, taking into account the demands of the various water users and the requirement of a minimum flow in any section of the river. In the second phase, the problem of fulfilling water quality standards is considered. This may require to reformulate the water resources sharing problem in order to increase the water flow in the river.
