| Abstract: | Highly regiospecific mononitration of phenol by NaNO3 and dilute sulfuric acid was carried out in a TX100 oil-in-water microemulsion. Effects of various parameters such as acid type, surfactant concentration, water content, and alcohol have been investigated. The use of inexpensive and relatively nontoxic acidic reagent is an advantage of this method.  |
