Jane Addams and the American Settlement House Movement

At the turn of the 20th century,the urban slum problem plagued the people of the United States.To resolve this problem,Jane Adams spearheaded social settlement house movement.Relief and education activities were carried out and in-depth surveys of the slums contributed to the Government to take measures with the view in order to close the distance between the different races and ethnic groups,the poor and the rich realize the overall progress of society.Although Addams＇s aim has not been fully implemented,the thought and the practice promoted social development,and will help to solve similar problems today.
