Abstract: | The propagation of plane harmonic waves in viscoelastic and elastoviscoplastic materials are studied using the equations of the field theory of defects, the kinematic identities for an elastic continuum with defects, and the dynamic equations of gauge theory. Wave propagation velocities and refraction and absorption coefficients are determined.
