Abstract: | The natural frequencies of a circular plate of variable thickness under the action of an inplane force are discussed on the basis of the classical theory of plates. The governing differential equation of motion is solved by the method of Frobenius. Frequency parameters of clamped as well as simply supported plates in the first two modes of vibration are computed for various values of a taper parameter, β, and the inplane force, both for linear and parabolic variations of thickness. |
