| Abstract: | We study the degeneration of variations of Hodge structure on Shimura varieties, which are given by algebraic representations. Our main result expresses this degeneration in terms of Hochschild, and abstract group cohomology. It is the Hodge theoretic analogue of Pink's theorem on degeneration of ?-adic sheaves Math.
