| Abstract: | The changes in the surface chemistry of polystyrene films exposed to natural weathering in Saudi Arabia have been followed with ESCA. Extensive incorporation of oxygen is observed, involving reaction of the main backbone chain and the pendant phenyl groups. The rate of surface photo-oxidation is strongly dependent on the photon flux during the time of exposure. |
